All You Need to Know About Ceremonial Ribbon
Being the one object named in the title of a ribbon cutting ceremony, ceremonial ribbon is indisputably the most important accessory required next to the ceremonial scissors. Ribbon cuttings take place to commemorate as special moment in a business or public organization, it could be a company merger, the unveiling of a new structure or product, the annexation of new facility or the start of a new business—as in the case of grand openings. Being that they are used to represent historic moments in corporate timelines and smaller organizations' milestones, ceremonial ribbon (or ribbon cutting ribbon) is usually expected to match the grandeur of the occasion through its size and boldness/brightness of color.
Types of Ribbon
Traditionally, extra-wide ceremonial ribbon is used as a default option with the occasional simple text printed to identify the reason for celebration. However, ceremonial ribbon has become more complex as the emphasis on marketing and branding has grown as a result of social media and the internet. Today, companies can't wait to share pictures of their ribbon cuttings displaying all sorts textual messages and company logos on the very ribbons. The width of the ribbon provides a blank canvas for personalization, making the ceremonial ribbon a sort of display banner rather than a mere symbolic accessory.
Pre-Printed vs. Customized Ribbon
Although personalization now plays a big role in the ribbon cutting set, the message to convey may simply be a common one used by a large majority of businesses. Standard text on the ribbon may be simply used to reiterate the type of event being held. For example, the ribbon can have the text 'Grand Opening' or 'Grand Re-Opening' stamped across and this, of course, would only make sense if that is the type of event it is being used for. In such scenarios, pre-printed ribbon is ideal since no further customization is necessary. But if the intention is to market a bit more than the nature of the event, customized ribbon allows for a whole host of creative designs to make it as unique as the brand being promoted.
Customizable ceremonial ribbon is a preferred choice for organizations that maximize the marketing and PR opportunities presented by a ribbon cutting. The most obvious artwork that is usually added to the ribbon is the company log, but rarely is it presented by itself. Usually, some personalized text follows the logo with a message that represents then occasion. While a company name may also be a default, a company slogan, date of the event or message of appreciation to involved parties may supersede it.
Making the Right Selection
When considering our various options of ceremonial ribbon, decide how elaborate your marketing plan needs to be. If it is a modest event with a smaller amount of attendees and no media coverage, plain ribbon may do just fine as it will only be needed to symbolize the start of something new. Maybe even a pre-printed ribbon will do the event justice since they add a little bit of personalization that will be appreciated in pictures and videos of the event. On the other hand, if the event is expected to host a large crowd and have media coverage, a fully customized ribbon is the best option since it provides a presentation consistent with the scale of the ceremony.
